CONVERSATIONS WITH CREATIVES:

Material Worlds

This talk delves into how each artist collaborates with elemental materials — from plant dyes that echo seasonal cycles to rust and clay that bear conversation with time — inviting us to reflect on practice rooted in place.

Alice Fox is a textile and natural-fibre artist based in West Yorkshire who transforms found and foraged materials into tactile, sustainable art. Drawing on her background in geography and nature conservation, Alice uses plant inks, rust, flax and dandelion stems — all from her allotment — to craft cords, prints and sculptural forms that speak to the resilience of place .

Yasuna Iman (b. 1995) is a Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist who creates abstract visual languages using soils, wild clay, botanical pigments, rust and handmade paper. Her sculptural “Earthmaps” and “Paperscapes” invite tactile engagement, reflecting impermanence and nature’s textures .

Marta Abbott is a Czech‑American artist living in Rome whose studio practice explores transformation, alchemy, time and the cycles of nature. She works with self‑prepared natural inks, earth pigments (including rust), analogue photography and clay to uncover unseen paths between heaven and ground .
